From Bedside to Botanical: The Story of Dr. Murse

My commitment to cannabis therapeutics is deeply personal.

a clinician first, educator second, and advocate always.

Since 2016, I’ve worked at the bedside in long-term care, memory care, neuro, and med/surg units. In 2024, I became a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Adult Gerontology Primary Care.

Over the years, I’ve watched patients wrestle with chronic illness, degenerative disease, anxiety, pain, stress—and a healthcare system that too often fails to meet them where they are. Many weren’t specifically asking for cannabis. They were asking for relief. For better answers. For more honesty.

I didn’t have enough answers—so I decided to change that, with the help of close friends and personal advocates who saw something more in me than I saw in myself. They encouraged me to take a leap I never imagined: enrolling in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

I didn’t go to study cannabis—I went to better understand the science of healthcare. But once there, I discovered a new world of mentorship, research, and amazing resources that gave me the space to grow. It’s where I began exploring cannabinoid therapeutics in a structured, evidence-based way. And everything shifted.

I watched my father struggle for years, relying on opioids and alcohol just to feel “normal.” Cannabis helped him enjoy life a little more in the time he had left—but it was heavily stigmatized in our home. He had to consume in secret, hiding a source of relief that genuinely brought him peace.

That quiet injustice—the stigma, the secrecy, the struggle to imagine a life beyond survival—still drives my work today.

Clinical Cannabis With Purpose

Drawing from personal experience, my professional background in healthcare, and an unrelenting commitment to ongoing education, I created Dr. Murse Therapeutic Taffies—vegan, hemp-derived edibles designed to support relief from anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and stress. These are among the most common concerns bringing individuals to their trusted healthcare providers, and they represent some of the most pervasive and disruptive issues affecting overall quality of life in our society today. My goal is to offer safe, consistent, and approachable options that align with a wellness-focused, evidence-informed approach to care.
